This past weekend (26-28 October), I had the pleasure of attending the 3rd annual Gait to the Spirit festival of Indian classical dance in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  Organized by Jai Govinda, the artistic director of Mandala Arts & Culture society and a renowned bharatanatyam dancer himself, the festival aims to showcase classical dance from around the world while also providing a platform for up-and-coming local artists.

As we open the second annual Gait to the Spirit festival, a collection of spectators gather anxiously at the theatre doors of The Dance Centre in downtown Vancouver, Canada.  Mandala Arts & Culture artistic director, Jai Govinda has a reputation for presenting world-class dance, and this weekend is no exception.
